Week 5

Miles walked to date: 201.5

Hey everyone! It's been really busy at the station lately so I don't have time to write much, so here are some pictures from this past week instead.

More army ants invaded yesterday

Small worker army ants with larger soldier (middle)

Red-capped Manakin (these guys do the coolest mating dance!!) Pipra mentalis

Fiery-billed Aracari (Pteroglossus frantzii)

We found a fer-de-lance (Bothrops asper) slithering across the paths and underneath the dorms. They're one of the most venomous snakes in Costa Rica and this one was huuuge!

Maggie and her little friend

We went on a rainforest walk at night and found lots of cool things that aren't out during the day:

Common Rain Frog (Craugastor fitzingeri)

That little blob in the centre of the picture is a common tink frog, just 2.5cm long (Eleutherodactylus diastema)

Salmon-bellied Racer (Mastigodryas melanolomus)

Sunrise during morning patrol

Jesus Christ lizard on the path back to the station (Basiliscus basiliscus)

Me and the cane toad we found in the office (Bufo marinus)

Mantled Howler Monkey (Alouatta palliata)

A sunny morning in the kitchen

A Jackfruit growing at the station (Artocarpus heterophyllus)
