Miles for Smiles

Just TWO DAYS until departure!! During my three months in Costa Rica I will be participating in a fund raiser called "Miles for Smiles". All interns have to walk as much as 32 miles a week on the beaches for the sea turtle patrol program, which means I will have walked over 400 miles by the end of the summer.

COTERC has a program that accepts donations for every mile I will walk on the beach, and the funds go directly to conservation initiatives in the area such as marine turtle protection, as well as local educational programs for the rural town of San Francisco.

I'll be posting the total distance I walked at the end of August, and you can donate as little or as much as you'd like at that time. If you'd like to read more about the program, please go to http://www.coterc.org/?page_id=955  or http://www.canadahelps.org/CharityProfilePage.aspx?charityID=s65321  - but please wait to donate until August :)

Thanks everybody!
